How to Prepare For the Trip

Travel documents

Passports are recommended for travel.

Medical information

Please have proof of medical insurance, and emergency contact information.

Contact information in Jamaica

Phone number is 1-876-408-5655. This is a cell phone that will be available to the group at all times and can be used for both outgoing calls and incoming 24 hours per day. The cell service in Jamaica is sketchy at best, if you receive a busy signal please keep trying.

Security

When away from the house on missions business the group will be together and always accompanied by trusted locals. No one will leave the house alone. This only applies for youth groups. Please ask about the code of conduct.

Personal Needs

Beach towel, sun screen, bug spray, personal hygiene products, hat, camera, journal, games, etc.

Promptness

Please be ready to leave at designated times for all functions.

Other

We ask that a positive attitude be displayed at all times. Drugs of any kind are illegal in Jamaica; however the use of marijuana is a large part of the culture. There is a strong possibility that you will be asked to purchase drugs at some time. If you smile and politely say “No thank you" you will be left alone. If anything persist that you feel threatened by, please advise a leader {again this is for the youth only}.

Remember this is a mission trip and things may not be as you are used to back home. If you have any food allergies please advise your leader prior to arrival, so we can prepare accordingly.
